Koh Samui Water Sports
There are lots of watersports available on Koh Samui and on the neighbouring islands. The serious diving is normally carried out around the neighbouring islands but snorkelling and recreational diving is done around Koh Samui.
Generally
Watersports are available from most major beaches and hotels especially around Lamai and Chaweng. Some watersports take place in some of the neighbouring islands.
Diving
Samui is one of the most popular diving training centres for the South East Asia region. Along with Koh Tao, Koh Samui offers a large range of diving opportunities for all level. Several reefs are located off the island shores, with 2 of the most popular sites for advanced divers being Sail Rock and Angthong National Marine Park off the northern end of Samui island.
Sailing
Sailing fanatics are discovering the wonders of the 80 islands archipelago of Koh Samui. Whether it is with a wind surf board, a Hobie catamaran or aboard a larger skippered sailing boat or multihull yacht (bareboat charter also available), you can enjoy a few hours, a day trip or overnight trips out with several Yacht Charter Companies.
Snorkeling
The bays around Samui contain many interesting coral reefs. Equipment can be rented from dive shops around the island. You may also enjoy a day trip to either the Angthong National Marine park or Koh Tao where operators will bring you to the richest sites for coral and fish.
Sea Kayaking
Samui's shoreline and nearby islands harbour a wealth of marine, animal and plant life. For a close and leisurely look, there is no better option than to spend a day or few hours in a sea kayak. The best place by far is the Anthong National Marine Park.
